Well…one thing is certain. If there was a GPS dog fence collar available that we would trust to put on our own dogs, then we would offer it to our dedicated customers. So far, we’ve tried every single version — the GPS geofence collars from the USA, the cheap knock-off “Temu” versions from China…all of them. None of them, not one, would we take the risk of having available.
It’s pretty simple really.
Why we won’t put one on your dog
We don’t have a staff of 100 to answer furious phone calls from dog owners asking why their GPS dog fence collar is randomly activating all over the yard, or not working at all — and now the dog is bolting down the street.
On top of that, what we consistently found was:
- Manufacturers failing to acknowledge faults in the GPS dog fence collars.
- Manufacturers failing to support or warrant products once the end user receives them.
- Unreliable GPS dog fence collar operation and inconsistency.
- Offering a 1-year warranty on something that’s worn by an animal!
- Offering a 1-year warranty, but not actually warranting anything!

Twenty-five years with DogWatch®
Overall, it is pretty simple. Hidden Fence brand adopted the DogWatch® product 25 years ago in Australia, and has never looked back.
As a matter of fact, all of the “knock-off” products currently offered in Australia and New Zealand are riding the coat tails of our success rate from 2002. This is the industry that Hidden Fence brand built over two decades ago.
The real cost of a cheap alternative
Cheaper alternatives only force that customer back to us eventually, after having to purchase more and more cheap gear until they realise they could have purchased our DogWatch® Hidden Fence system once, instead of buying five cheap knock-off “hidden fences”.
The most important issue is that by then, the dog that was afflicted with a cheap knock-off system is behaviourally compromised, and requires more work than was needed in the first place.
